View of White Oak Pond from the Virginia Hood residence, Holderness, NH
A 5 1/2 hour train ride into the white Mountains of New Hampshire out of North Conway.
We followed the Mad River up into Waterville Valley. The first stop was the Blair Covered Bridge. Great Fall color and a raging Mad River.
Kankamagus Highway and the Flume
The Flume had a great show after a full day of rain. The Kankamagus Highway is the main tourist route for Fall color. The day was very overcast, but with the help of a color enhancement filter and raw images, I was able to coax a bit of fall color out of the day. Stops at the Swift River, Sabbaday Falls and numerous scenic overlooks.
A stop at Moulton Farm then stops at Lake Waukewan and Winona Lake on the way home. Light cloud cover and very little wind made for some spectacular scenery and photos. A side trip to Perch Pond had similar beautiful scenery, but was quickly rained out.
The Hood and McDonald Residences, Holderness
Both beautiful spots, especially in the Fall.
